Goal Seekers: Our New Motivational Program

Goal Seekers: Our New Motivational Program

We are always aiming to improve the lives of our clients. Our Dinner Program offers a safe, peer supported environment for women and children. The program provides a warm, nutritious dinner nightly, crisis intervention services, and physical/therapeutic activities.

Collin McKone, a Thrive DC intern, saw the potential of our female clients and was inspired to create Goal Seekers. It’s a new bi-weekly program that offers our female clients an opportunity to create and accomplish goals on a weekly basis.Collin Goal Seekers

Workshops include but are not limited to motivational speeches and videos, goal setting and sharing accomplishments.

“What we wanted to do was not maximize the number of people who are involved with us but maximize the number of lives that we changed,” said Collin when asked what were his motivations.

Effectiveness

In the first workshop, Collin admits there were some that did not originally have interest in listening however he continued to speak about the importance of dreaming big, capturing their attention. His enthusiasm captivated the entire room even making some participants emotional. Afterwards the women were given time to write down their goals.

Results

So far, several women have thanked Thrive DC on the effectiveness of this program. Some women have already taken steps to accomplish their goals within a couple of days. Because of this success, we plan on continuing the program for these women.

McKone concluded the workshop by saying, “Achieving your goals is not going to be easy, but it is possible and it is definitely worth it.”
