Thrive DC serves breakfast and dinner to over 200 people each day. We depend on the support and generosity of our community to make sure our clients receive full and healthy meals to get them back on their feet.
You can have a big impact in one of two ways:
Fresh Food Donations
We are in constant need of heart healthy, fresh food to serve our clients. Grocery stores, restaurants, and individuals with bulk purchase options can help us greatly with the following items:
- Fresh Fruit
- Fresh Vegetables
- Protein like meat or beans
- Bulk Coffee
Emergency Grocery Bags
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday we hand out emergency grocery bags to our low-income and homeless clients that don’t have a stable source of food. We give out as many as we can, but always run out. You can help us provide reliable, shelf-stable food to clients when they aren’t able to get to Thrive DC:
- Protein bars
- Granola bars
- Pop-top canned fruits and vegetables
- Peanut Butter
- Rice & Pasta
- Pop-top canned meat and fish

Commercial Food Waste

Dropping Off Donations
Unfortunately, we are not able to pick up donations. But you can bring things to us at our location in Columbia Heights Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM. Before you come, please let our staff listed below know to expect you! If you are unable to get to us during normal operating hours, we would be happy to talk about setting up a more convenient time for drop offs.

If you aren’t sure what to donate, or want to have the maximum impact on our clients, consider donating financially. Your financial donations give Thrive DC the flexibility to help clients no matter the need or situation.
