What’s Cooking Tour

Once a month we’ll be bringing you into the heart of what we do at Thrive DC.

During the tour you’ll learn more about our mission and how our one-stop shop helps everyone realize their potential to thrive! You’ll hear directly from our Executive Director, Alicia Horton, about the future of our work. Staff and clients will share stories about the impact of our work, and break down some of the misconceptions around what we do.

As the pandemic begins to wind down, we are looking forward to beginning new projects and tackling new goals. Join us to hear what we’ve accomplished this past year and how you can be a part of a new year preventing and ending homelessness in DC.

Register here for any of our tours on the last Wednesday of the month from 4-5 PM

Future tour Dates: June 30th, July 28th, and August 25th

“A Chance to Thrive” Campaign Launch

On June 24th, join us for the launch of our new campaign, “A Chance to Thrive,” created in response to the various obstacles and challenges returning citizens face after returning from incarceration.

Annually, over 3,600 people come home to the District after serving time in prison or jail. Many will have been away for years or decades, and they return to a city radically different from when they were first incarcerated.

Yet when they come home, they are often met with distrust, discrimination, and fear. So many wonder, “when will I have been punished enough?”

Hosted by Thrive DC and Free Minds Book Club & Writing Workshop, “A Chance to Thrive” will feature a panel of three returning citizens sharing their experiences after coming home. This one-hour panel will give event participants insight into what it’s like after release from prison, and offer an opportunity to ask questions to the panelists.

Why do so many people recidivate? Most of us don’t get them a chance to thrive.

Sign up today to learn why everyone deserves a second chance.
