COVID-19 Volunteer Opportunities
Due to the ongoing pandemic, our normal operations and volunteer opportunities have been severely disrupted. While we still need your help, our needs are different during this time of alternative services.
1-2 Volunteers are needed on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday Mornings from 7:30am-9:30am.
Volunteers will assist with signing clients in, putting together meals to hand out, assisting with potential food deliveries, and packaging bags of food to hand out.
1-4 Volunteers are needed on Monday – Friday between 11 AM & 3 PM.
Volunteers are needed to unload food off the trucks from the Capital Area Food Bank. Volunteers are also needed to help bag supplies, sort mail, and assist with general office tasks.
1-2 Volunteers are needed on Tuesday – Thursday between 9:30 AM – 2 PM.
The Reentry Assistant helps clients by “interviewing” them as they try to reenter the job market. They will also help clients with writing cover letters and resumes for job applications.
Food Distribution and Admin Assistance
1-4 Volunteers are needed on Thursdays from 9:30am-1pm.
Volunteers will help distribute bagged meals to walk-in clients (we have been giving away between 100-150 bags of food per week) and help to organize and distribute mail for clients who have mail sent to us.
The comprehensive programs of support that Thrive DC provides, offers hope to our clients when they need it the most. We serve over 250 people each day, and couldn’t do it without thousands of volunteers each year dedicating their skills and time in support of our clients.
Note: Thrive DC is only open Tuesday – Friday. Unfortunately there are no volunteer opportunities over the weekend.
Winter Coat Drive Distribution (Seasonal)
1 – 6 volunteers are needed Tuesday – Thursday November 30, 2021 – February 24, 2022. Volunteers will work with our clients to help them choose winter dress items!
