We are so excited to announce a new member of the Thrive DC team, Jon Bolduc! He will be serving as our Program Director. Learn more about him below!
Tell us a little about yourself.
I have been working as a social worker in Washington, DC for over two decades now – more like 25+ years at this point. During this time, I have worked mostly with people experiencing homelessness. I love my work and am always motivated and excited to come to work each day. The need in the community is great, but I feel like the needed and necessary programs such as those at Thrive DC are essential to helping folks to improve their current situations and rebuild their lives. Being a part of this process is extremely rewarding and humbling.
What attracted you to Thrive?
Working and living in the community for many years, I have been aware of the great work that Thrive DC has done and continues to do in the community and was very excited to have an opportunity to work here! I know there is a lot more good work to come in the future.
What do you like about your role here?
In my role as Director of Programs, I am looking forward to being involved with the day-to-day work and being part of the Thrive DC team. In addition, I want to see how we can help and support additional folks that are struggling in our community and to support and assist them as they improve their lives. I also very much look forward to working with the talented and dedicated staff at Thrive DC.
What has been a powerful moment you’ve experienced since you started working here?
Since starting at Thrive DC, I have been very impressed with how professional and welcoming our staff has been when working with the people we serve. Staff has taken the time to build a good rapport with our clients, and this hard work shows. Staff has built these professional relationships based on trust, dignity, and respect of individuals — and these relationships are at the heart of what we do and at the beginning of change.
What’s your favorite breakfast food?
There are so many! I have a major sweet tooth, so I would probably go straight to the sweets – doughnuts, danish, pancakes, waffles. Although the more practical side of me (and possibly more healthy side) always loves the simple pleasure of toast or a bagel with peanut butter.
